Home Life
Chapter: Home Life
Section 1: Cleaning your Room
- Familiarise yourself with typical phrases relating to cleaning your room. For example, 打扫房间 (dǎsǎo fángjiān) means to clean your room.
- Learn verbs such as 收 (shōu) to pick up, 扔 (rēng) to throw away, and 摆 (bǎi) to arrange.
- Expand your vocabulary to include items often found in a room, like 床 (chuáng) for bed, 书桌 (shūzhuō) for desk, and 椅子 (yǐzi) for chair.
Section 2: Meal Preparation
- Recognise words related to meal preparation like 准备饭菜 (zhǔnbèi fàn cài) which means to prepare meals.
- Know the names of common Chinese dishes - examples include 炒饭 (chǎofàn) for fried rice and 饺子 (jiǎozi) for dumplings.
- Practice verbs related to cooking such as 煮 (zhǔ) to boil, 切 (qiē) to cut, and 炒 (chǎo) to stir fry.
Section 3: Invite Friends Over
- Learn phrases associated with inviting friends over like 邀请朋友来我家 (yāoqǐng péngyǒu lái wǒ jiā) which translates to invite friends to my house.
- Understand how to talk about planned activities such as 看电影 (kàn diànyǐng) to watch a movie, 一起做作业 (yīqǐ zuò zuòyè) to do homework together, and 玩电子游戏 (wán diànzǐ yóuxì) to play video games.
- Be able to express giving directions like 向右转 (xiàng yòu zhuǎn) turn right and 向左转 (xiàng zuǒ zhuǎn) turn left.
Key Vocabulary Exercise
After each section, you should consolidate your understanding with a vocabulary exercise. A simple way to do this is to practise writing out sentences which include the new vocabulary you've learned. Don’t forget to revise regularly to ensure these new words and terms are committed to memory.
Question: Translate the following sentence into Chinese: "I invite my friends over to my house to prepare meals and afterwards we clean up the room together."
