Presentation and Discussion (based on independent research)

Section 1: The Essence of Presentation and Discussion

• Focus on demonstrating both your language skills and your ability to conduct and present research.
• Aim to talk about your topic for about 7 minutes. It is always easier when you're discussing an area you're genuinely passionate about.
• Try to present your topic as an interesting, engaging narrative rather than just a series of facts.
• Be prepared to answer questions about your topic. These questions are an opportunity to showcase your full understanding of the issue.
• Spend time prepared by reading widely on your topic, using a range of sources to fully understand different viewpoints.

Section 2: Organisation and Structure

• Structure your presentation logically, making it easy for your listener to follow.
• Make sure that each idea flows into the next, using connector words and phrases such as 'however', 'therefore', 'on the other hand', etc.
• Use a clear introduction to set up your topic and a conclusion to summarise your key points.
• Keep your sentences and paragraphs concise and clear.

Section 3: Language Proficiency

• Try to use a range of vocabulary and complex sentence structures.
• Remember to use the correct tense and gender agreement.
• Pronounce German words with care and determination, working on your intonations and accents.
• Aim to speak fluidly and with good pacing, neither too fast nor too slow.

Section 4: Interaction and Discussion

• Listen attentively to all the questions asked.
• Respond clearly and ensure you express your points fully.
• Defend your research and views when necessary, but remember to respect different opinions.
• Use any feedback received to improve and refine your speaking skills.
